Holy Spirit College is pleased to announce a eight week course on Byzantine Iconography: Theology in Color. Learn the art of Byzantine Icon painting, the art of the early Church. Students will learn the history, theology and technique of Byzantine icon painting. It is a course for beginners and covers 2d and 3d line drawing, basic color theory, tone study on canson paper, and painting of an icon with acrylic paints. An artistic background is not required, just a desire to learn and willingness to step out of the box. Intermediate level painters and those experienced in writing in egg tempura may join the class and work at own pace with instructor guidance. (Please contact 706-310-1306 for approval.) The course will be taught by Fr. Anthony Salzman, a Greek Orthodox priest of Saint Philothea Greek Orthodox Church in Athens.

Dates:
Class will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in the Holy Spirit Prep Art Room (Commons Building) on the following Mondays: Sept 9, September 23, September 30, October 7, October 14, October 21, October 28, November 4, with a make up date on November 11.
The cost to audit this course is $235. The cost for credit is $335 (1 credit hour). Supplies are included.
