Dr. Kiernan-Lewis received the M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy with a minor in History of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Georgia. He has over two decades of college teaching experience, including positions at UCLA, William and Mary, and Georgia Tech. His areas of expertise are philosophy of religion, epistemology and metaphysics. Dr. Kiernan-Lewis has published numerous scholarly articles, including a series of papers on the problem of evil. His special interests include Aquinas, Augustine, the relationship between faith and reason, and the historical and philosophical relations between science and Christian faith. His textbook Learning to Philosophize (Wadsworth, 2001) continues to be used in college classes in the U.S. and Canada.
